Obituary for Helen C Williams

Helen Angeline Carter Williams, age 90, of 777 Nursing Home Rd., Marshallville, died at The Oaks Nursing Home Sunday, September 22, 2013. A native of Lodge, SC., she was born November 9, 1922, the daughter of the late Carey Phillip and Minnie Caldwell Carter. She was employed by Sumter Regional Hospital from 1971-1982 as the assistant Personnel Director and helped reorganize the Hospital Auxiliary in 1975. She was very active in the Moose Auxiliary; a member of Woodmen of the World Lodge # 6342; a past president of WMU at Eastside Baptist Church and a member of the Sunshine Club of Smithville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Steve Golden officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, September 23, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Georgia Sherriff’s Boy’s Ranch, 5671 Ga. Hwy 122 E, Hahira, GA. 31632; the residents fund at The Oakes Nursing Home, 777 Nursing Home Rd., Marshallville, GA 31057 or to the residents fund at Sumter Retirement Village, 2124 Hwy 280 W., Plains, GA. 31780. Pallbearers include George Young, Chris Carlisle, David Wingard, Jamie Cromer, Jim Bass and David Lewis. Honorary pallbearers include residents of Sumter Retirement Village and The Oaks Nursing Home. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Jackie and Jim Cromer of Americus and Joyce Carlisle of Americus; five grandchildren, Brenda Jean Renick and fiancé David Dexter, Chris and Kim Carlisle, Leslie Carlisle, Mikki and David Lewis, and Jamie and Chealsea Cromer; six great grandchildren, Tatum Cromer, Kelsey Moore, Brittany Renick, Laci Pucik, Sydney Kate Lewis and Hadley Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Talton Williams Jr.; a son, Robert Talton Williams III; and a daughter, Gloria Jean Johns.
