Obituary for Eunice Tripp Nelson

Eunice Lee Tripp Nelson went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017. She was born December 21, 1924 in Leslie and lived all of her ninety-two years in the Leslie-DeSoto area. Ms. Eunice loved her family and her Calvary Baptist Church family where she was a charter member. She was faithful to her Adult Sunday School class and serving her Lord.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 24, 2017 at DeSoto Methodist Church Cemetery in DeSoto with Rev. William Hall officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus.

She especially loved her family reunions where she was known for her banana pudding. Her family was an important part of her life and helping others in their time of need. She was an avid fan of Southern Gospel music and gospel singings and attended as long as her health permitted. Ms. Eunice was a graduate of Union High School and South Georgia Vocational School. Working for many years on the maternity floor at Sumter Regional Hospital, she was well-known by many new mothers.

Survivors include her two sons and a daughter-in-law: Jimmy and Debra Nelson of Americus and Roney Nelson of Smithville; three grandchildren: Missi Musselwhite of Sharpsburg, Michael and Mariah Nelson of Smithville, and Christy Nelson of Smithville. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren: Corbin and Alex Musselwhite of Sharpsburg; Abby Trussell, Madison and Izabell Bissett of Smithville; one sister, Helen Tripp Durden of Americus; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie J. and Laura Lou Tripp; three sisters: Jessie Lou Tripp, Annie Mae Faircloth, and Estoria Spillers; a daughter-in-law, Dell Nelson; a granddaughter, Amy Nelson; five brothers: Otis Tripp, Buck Tripp, Wesley Tripp, Willard Tripp, and Russell Tripp; and six sisters-in-law: Betty Dillard, Annie Pearl Tripp, Erlene Tripp, Ethel Tripp, Pauline Tripp, and Rosa Lee Tripp.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Family and friends may call at the home of Jimmy and Debra Nelson, 1369 B Ga Hwy 27 E, Americus.

Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel is in charge of these arrangements.
