Obituary for Ethel Louise Bowman Andre

Ethel Louise Bowman Andre, age 94, of 2001 S. Lee St., died at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home early Tuesday morning, April 24, 2012. A native of Butler, PA., she was born July 19, 1917 the daughter of the late Edward Thomas and Estella Susan Bowen Bowman. She was a retired book keeper for Milo Williams Jewelry Store. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Butler, PA. ; past president of The Methodist Women and served on the administrative board; also a member of the “Quilter’s Group” of the Church; the Girl Scouts as a Troup Leader and The Keystone Tall Trees Board most of her adult life; a past member of the B.P.W. and A.A.U.W. and past member of the Butler Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she served as the Awards Chairman for many years. Mrs. Andre was a graduate of Muskingum College with a BA degree in Business Administration. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 28th at 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Butler, PA., with the Rev. David Panther and Rev. Tom Holman officiating. Burial will follow in North Side Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 3 at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of First United Methodist Church in Americus. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, 204 Prince St., Americus, GA 31709 or League of the Good Samaritan, Magnolia Manor, 2001 S. Lee St., Americus, Ga. 31709. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Janis and William Bird of Americus; a son, Richard T. Andre of Fort Wayne, IN; five grandchildren, Kristen and Kent Richardson, Scott and Katie Andre, Steve Andre, Jonathan Bird and Beth Bird; two nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Andre, a sister, Betty Bowman White and a brother, Bob Bowman.
