Obituary for Elizabeth Jean Taylor

Elizabeth Jean Taylor, age 77, of 204 Mockingbird Dr., Americus, died at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Saturday, October 24, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. A native of Rochester, NH, she was born April 11, 1938, the daughter of the late Howard and Mary Drapeau. The Taylor family relocated from New Hampshire to Americus in 1978.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Red Hat Society, the Newcomers Club, Silver Sneakers and a volunteer at Magnolia Manor. She loved reading and her daily devotion was a very important part of her life. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. She was a lifelong homemaker and dedicated to her family. After her children were grown, she worked part-time for several years at the Americus Times-Recorder.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at 12:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Francis Gillespie officiating, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday, October 26, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 332 S. Lee St., Americus, GA. 31709.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Dennis Dingler of Americus; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Deborah Taylor of Simpsonville, SC; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Jo-Anne Drapeau of Milton, NH; and three grandchildren, Noah Taylor, Ireland Taylor and Andrew Dingler.
