Obituary for Darold E Myers

Mr. Darold E. Myers, age 81, of 180 GA Hwy 27 E, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 30, 2009 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sam Maves and Rev. Greg Kirk officiating. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Chuck McClain, Skeeter Daniels, Mike Gurley, Phil Hart, Johnny Ragsdale and Frank Bush. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are Jay McClain, Buddy Russell, Phil Curtis, Buddy Holloman, Nat Gurley, Richard Wisham, Doug Parrish, Mark Devane, Jimmy Ferguson, Parker Roth and Butch Pugh. Burial will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
A native of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Mr. Myers was born April 12, 1928, a son of the late Marvin Myers and Edna Hoover Myers. He was a member of the M.B. Council Lodge #13 F&AM, a member of the John D. Mathis Post 2 of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and a Deacon and Elder of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church where he was a member.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, April 29 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times at the family residence. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 6343, Americus, Ga. 31709.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dawn E. Myers of Americus; two daughters, Ann Morrocu of Wilmington, DE, Gail Myers Crawley of Powell, TN; two sons, Kenneth Myers of Americus, Gordon Dodson of Sagamore Hills, OH; three sisters, Dorothy Getty of Newmedia, PA, Lois McHenry of Buckhorn, PA, Audrey Welkom of Slabtown, PA; three brothers, Karl Myers of Orangeville, PA, Robert Myers of Danville, PA, Richard Myers of Catawissa, PA and two sisters-in-law, Dee Myers of Clifton Springs, NY and Nancy Myers of Derrs, PA. Six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive.
