Obituary for Danny Wesley Lamb

Mr. Danny Lamb, age 62, of 462 Flintside Dr., Cobb, Ga., died December 30, 2009 at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, Ga. A native of Crisp County, Mr. Lamb was born October 1, 1947, the son of Alfred Wesley and Lunell Watson Lamb. Mr. Lamb was a star basketball player at Crisp County High School and he loved hunting and fishing and being outdoors as well as being a longtime member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where he also served as a Deacon. Mr. Lamb viewed his illness as an opportunity to witness for Christ and connect with other terminally ill people in a way that others could not.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 2, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at Lakeview Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Hollis, Rev. Lawton Sammons and Rev. Chris Hurt officiating. Burial will follow at the Lakeview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, January 1, 2009, from six to eight PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times at the home of Frances Restagno, 451 Flintside Dr., Cobb. Asked to serve as pall bearers are Jody Dupree, Tom Dupree, Gary Houston, Jimmy Watson, Timothy Pate and Keith Pate. Asked to serve as honorary pall bearers are Chris Jordan, Kevin Collins, Johnny Smarr, John Statham, Hugh Lawing, Andrew Grimsley, Jimmy Parks, Bobby Hobbs and Tony Allison.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Restagno Lamb of Cobb, his father, Wesley Lamb of Sugar Hill; his mother-in-law, Frances Restagno of Cobb; three sisters, Gail Pate of Arabi, Debbie Covington of Atlanta, and Della Mae Winsky of Atlanta; two brothers, Rick Lamb of Atlanta and Wes Lamb of Atlanta; three nephews and one niece including Kevin Collins. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Phoebe Cares, 417 3rd Ave., Albany, Georgia 31702.
