Daniel" />Joyce Stapleton Daniel, age 78, of 306 Clements St., Richland, died at the Stewart Webster Hospital Monday, February 13. A native of Weston, Mrs. Daniel was born December 27, 1933, the daughter of the late Albert Clark and Mildred Dennard Stapleton. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Richland and was a retired customer service representative. Mrs. Daniel was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Harmony Cemetery in Richland with Rev. Robert Orr officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Weston Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 156, Weston, GA.  31832.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Chris Rice of Richland; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Debbie Daniel of Cusseta and Scott and Mylena Daniel of Cusseta; five grandchildren, Jeremy and Ragon Rice, Michael and Darby Rice, Tracy Richardson, Curt and Misti Richardson and Isabella Daniel; six great grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Gunnels of Montgomery, AL; two sister-in-laws, Mattie Maude Stapleton of Mt. Ulla, NC and Marianne Lee of Tallahassee; a brother-in-law, Wesley Daniel of Columbus;a cousin and best friend, Carolyn Anglin of Richland and two aunts, Nellie Alston of Preston and Ayleen Sumner of Americus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie U. Daniel, Jr., two sisters and one brother.

Hugh D. Lawing, age 80, of 131 N. Spring Creek Rd., Cobb, died at his residence Sunday, February 5, 2012.  A native of Forest City, North Carolina, Hugh was born June 5, 1931, the son of the late Claude Manson and Eva Lackey Lawing. He attended high school at Cool Springs High School in Forest City, NC and graduated from North Carolina State University with a BSEE degree in Engineering in 1959. Hugh served in the US Navy from 1951-1955 as an Aviation Electrician. He was employed with Martin-Marietta Corp. as an Analog Applications Engineer. He also worked with Sperry-Rand Corp. as a Motor Design Engineer and retired after 28 years with Lockheed Georgia Company, Marietta, Georgia. While at Lockheed, Hugh worked as a Mathematician, Scientific Computing Analyst and in other computer operations. Hugh is a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for several years. He also taught for many years in the Marietta, GA area. Since retirement Hugh has enjoyed golfing and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Lawing of Cobb; four daughters and sons-in-law,  Jane Harrison of Gainesville, GA, Amy and Mike Jackson of Kennesaw, Beth and Dave Duran of Marietta and Jo and Dr. Michael Hebert of MS; a son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Penny Lawing, Jr. of Weston, FL; two step sons, Dr. Johnny Franklin Railey of Falls Church, VA and Todd Stephen  and Dana Railey of Powder Springs; three sisters, Carolyn Lawing Wood of Forest City, NC and Verlie Lawing Leatherwood of Black Mountain, NC and Ethel Lawing Bridges of Troutman, NC; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Claude and Betty Lawing of Shelby, NC, Perry and Betty Lawing of Marion, NC and Morrison and Shirley Lawing of Poquoson, VA; fifteen grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Andersonville National Cemetery, Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 11:30 AM
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials  be made to Alpha Net, Inc. at 2937 SW 27th Ave, Coconut Grove, FL 33133.

<description><![CDATA[<img src="http://greghancockfuneralchapel.com/components/comObituaries/obituarythumbnails/93_114386.jpg" alt="Zachary Clay Peak" />Zachary Clay Peak, age 26, of DeSoto, Georgia passed away on January 31, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah. Funeral services for Mr. Peak will be held Friday, February 3 at 2:00 PM at DeSoto Baptist Church where he was a member. Rev. Troy Fripp will officiate. Interment will be in the Leslie Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, February 2, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to DeSoto Baptist Church, P.O. Box 100, DeSoto, GA  31743 or Friends of the Rylander Theatre, P.O. Box 864, Americus, GA.  31709.

Zach was a 2003 graduate of Lee County High School where he participated in band, chorus and the one act play. He also graduated from Georgia Southwestern State University with a degree in drama and information technology. At Georgia Southwestern he sang with the chorus, was in numerous plays, worked with the University’s TV channel 16 and the Rylander’s Children theatre. Zach enjoyed music, literature and computers and had a talent for writing like his father.
 Zach was the son of Sidney Clinton Peak and Carol Ann Peak. He was preceded in death by his father Sidney Peak, and his grandparents, Roger and Ida Peak of Cuthbert, Georgia. Survivors include his mother, Carol Ann Clay Peak of DeSoto, his maternal grandparents, Robert A. and Betty Pace Clay of DeSoto, an aunt, Melody Clay Sheffield, (Jim) of Albany, uncles,  John Peak (Sheila) of Leesburg and Stanley Peak of Albany, cousins, Clay Sheffield of Albany and Beth Peak of Albany and many more aunts, uncles and cousins.

A native of Ashburn, Ga., he was born December 27, 1940 the son of the late William Byron and Amelia Maurine Parmore Oliver.  Mr. Oliver was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a farmer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. William Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Leslie City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 31, 2012, from 6 to 8 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the family residence 852 Leslie Lamar Rd. Pall bearers include Lamar Oliver, Gary Odom, Bill Watson, Kendall Cooper, Corbett Howell and Clay Harvey. Honorary Pall bearers include Logan Felts, Lamar Potter, Lane Lacy and Russell Philmon. Survivors include his wife of fifty years, Ruthie Oliver of Leslie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Billie Ann and Andy Prickett of Lake Cormorant, MS and Sheila and Tim Ellsworth of Mesa, AZ.; a son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Lisa Oliver of Leslie; four sisters, Betty Spradley of Albany, Claira Scott of Leesburg, Wino Scott of Leesburg and Joe Ann Walker of Sylvester; four brothers, Bob Oliver of Baconton, Byron Oliver of Sylvester, Ed Oliver of Baconton and Danny Oliver of Leesburg; and two grandchildren, Andrea and Austin Prickett.

A native of Ellaville, Mr. Owen was born November 25, 1926, the son of the late John and Idolene English Owen. Mr. Owen was retired from the US Postal Service where he was employed as a mail carrier. He served in the US Navy during WWII and also served in the National Guard for seventeen years. Mr. Owen was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, a Pilgrim with the Moose Lodge and a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Hugh Harbort officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include grandsons and Honorary pallbearers include Letter Carriers. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 11, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times the residence of Ralph and Sheryl Norton, 709 Adderton St., Americus. A native of Ellaville, Ms. Taylor was born November 13, 1923 the daughter of the late John Leonard and Artie Ophelia Allen Teele.  She was an active member of Ellaville Baptist Church, past state champion in archery and loved her family.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 13, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ben Foxworth officiating. Mr. Short served in the Navy during World War II and was retired from Sheffield Hardware where he was employed as Vice President and Secretary. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus, past member of Civitan, Junior Chamber of Commerce, past member of Jaycees, MB Council Lodge # 13 F &amp; AM, Knight Temple, past president of Sumter Shrine Club and a member of Elks Club.

He was a member of First Methodist Church and retired from International Minerals and Chemicals where he was employed as a Sales Manager.

She was a graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University and was retired from Wells Fargo where she was employed as a Bank Examiner.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 9, 2011, at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill Dupree officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 8, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
